Firste World Conference of the International Olympic Committee on the prevention of injuries and illnesses in sport
As had already been the case in 2011 and 2014, the Principality of Monaco once again hosted the World Conference of the International Olympic Committee on the prevention of injuries and diseases in Sport on March 16-18, 2017.
Opened by HSH Prince Albert II and organized under the leadership of a Committee chaired by the Head of the Medicine and Science Department of the International Olympic Committee, Professor Lars Engebretsen, including in particular Doctor Richard Budgett, director of this department and Ms. Chérine Touvet-Fahmy, head of anti-doping within the IOC's medical and scientific department, this triennial event brought together a considerable number of world specialists at the Grimaldi Forum to allow them to exchange views and present the most recent scientific advances in matter. This World Conference was characterized by a multidisciplinary approach, marked by both technical and methodological interventions of high quality.
Alongside the Monegasque Olympic Committee with which it cooperates on a daily basis and its secretary general, HE Ms. Yvette Lambin-Berti, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee was represented at the work of this essential event by its president, Mr. Philippe Orengo and the coordinator of its Training, Prevention Education commission, Dr Muriel Tonelli, while the Monaco Sports Center was represented by Drs Jack Michel, member of the Committee College, and Richard Manas, doctor-phlebotomist, both being responsible for information and prevention missions within the Committee.
