Since the 96th United Nations General Assembly on August 23, 2013, April 6 has been declared the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. In the Principality of Monaco, it is marked by a large-scale event, the Princess Charlene Rally, which took place this year on April 5, 2019. At the end of this day, all participants brandished the White Card of Peace and Sport. A gesture filled with a strong symbolic charge which responds to the commitment of HSH Prince Albert II as well as that of the whole Principality of Monaco and which testifies to the investment of each for peace in the world. The Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee fully associates itself with these initiatives of capital importance.
Sport as a vector of peace
It is by resolution 67/296 that the General Assembly of the United Nations, on the occasion of its 96th plenary meeting of August 23, 2013, proclaimed April 6 International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. This decision completed a long regulatory journey recognizing the importance of sport and the values it carries in the promotion of peace, education, health and development. A unifying human practice par excellence and a melting pot of tolerance and respect, sport forges social bonds beyond differences, inspires and structures - transcends.
Through this founding resolution, the United Nations General Assembly encourages States, competent international organizations and international, regional and national sports organizations as well as civil society (non-governmental organizations, private sector, etc.) to actively participate non only on the International Day of Sport in the service of development and peace but also to the promotion of the sport and its values.

A deep commitment from the Principality

The students were able to learn about doping and its risks at the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee stand run by its Head of the Permanent Secretariat, Mrs. Andrea Alessio, and by its Project Manager, Jérémy Bottin.
In the Principality of Monaco, on the initiative of Peace and Sport, the organization founded in 2007 by Joël Bouzou and placed under the High Patronage of HSH the Sovereign Prince, on April 6 gave rise in particular to a special edition of Monaco Matin.
But this day is also marked by a large-scale event, the Princess Charlene Rally, punctuated by a strong gesture, loaded with symbol: the brandishing by all of the White Card of Peace and Sport which, responding to the invitation of HSH the Prince Albert II, testifies to the investment of each one for peace in the world.
The lifee edition of this Rally organized by the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Peace and Sport, the Association of Parents of Students of Monaco and the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee, a concerned all classes of 3e schools in the Principality.
A full day

Athletes Kevin Crovetto (high level gymnast competing for the Principality) and Marc Raquil, world champion in 4 × 400 m, passed on their experience as great athletes to the students.

The 3rd year students of the Principality's three colleges (Charles III. FANB and LTHM) undertook a sporting event, a rescue test and an intellectual test. Not to mention the always very imaginative drawing competition.

The 430 students of the three colleges of the Principality (Charles III College, FANB College, Technical and Hotel School of Monaco) took part in a physical test (in the form of a relay on an ergometer reproducing the efforts of rowing), to a solidarity test organized by the Monaco Aquatic Rescue Center and an intellectual test materialized by a MCQ. The students also had the opportunity to learn about the fight against doping thanks to the stand held by the Committee in the small gymnasium of the College Charles III.
The drawing workshop, allowing each team to translate its perception of the meaning of this international day of sport for development and peace into a collective work, was renewed and brilliantly won by the 3rd 6.
The Conference offered the students the privilege of sharing the experiences of two great Monegasque sportsmen: Kevin Crovetto, Olympic athlete, gymnast who won gold and bronze at the Games of the Small States of Europe and who represented the Principality of Monaco at the Games. Olympic Games in Rio, as well as Marc Raquil, world champion in the 4 × 400 m.
At the end of this busy morning, the traditional awards ceremony saw the teams rewarded who shone not only for their physical performance, but also for their intellectual acuity, their sense of commitment and their imagination. , in particular through the drawing competition. Doctor Tonelli, head of the Education and Prevention Commission of the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee, joined Ms. Isabelle Bonnal, Director of National Education, Youth and Sports, and Mr. Henri Fissore, member of the Peace and Sport, to Mrs. Marie-Cécile Moreno, Deputy Director of the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, to Mr. Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene Foundation, to Mr. Cédric Bertrand, Principal of the College Charles III, to Mr. Jean-Marc Deoriti, principal of the LTHM, to Mrs. Christine Lanzerini, Head of School of the FANB High School, to Mrs. Martine Ackermann, President of the EMPA, to Kevin Crovetto and to Marc Raquil, to congratulate the students and present them with their medals.
