Under the aegis of the Monegasque Cycling Federation, the Union Cycliste de Monaco organized on Sunday March 26 the 43rd edition of the Critérium de Monaco-Paco Alonso Trophy on the traditional Port Hercule circuit. The Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee was present.
As part of a collaboration initiated with the Monegasque Cycling Federation, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee inaugurated on the site of this event the new communication media it has acquired. In the presence of the President, the stand held by Ms. Alessio, Permanent Secretary, Dr. Tonelli, coordinator of the Training, Prevention Education Commission and Ms. Vernay, doping control officer, installed in front of the multi-sided display made it possible to arouse the curiosity of the public including Belgian, Luxembourg and British visitors and the Committee to establish useful contacts, for example with the Italian association VOL.A. Volontari Antidoping “Stefania Belmondo”, to find anti-doping specialists, in particular Professor Mike MacNamee, professor at the University of Swansea and author of numerous specialized books and to distribute his usual educational or promotional material (brochures, comics, frisbees). He was also involved in the presentation of prizes and medals by being able to present the winners with a present bearing the logo of the Committee and the UNESCO brochure on doping in sport.
In the facilities of the Stade Nautique Rainier III kindly made available by the Monaco City Hall, and helped by its sports escorts and one of its sampling doctors, he also ordered anti-doping controls by drawing lots on runners having participated in the all categories event which ended this beautiful, friendly day.
