The 2016 School Athletic Games

The 26th School athletic games

Each year, the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports organizes, on the athletics track of the Stade Louis II, a morning dedicated to sport in which all CM2 students of the Principality participate. On this occasion, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee was able to carry out its mission of prevention among the youngest and intervene with an audience as enthusiastic as it is attentive.

A morning dedicated to sport and youth

As every year, the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports organized, on June 1 on the athletics track of the Stade Louis II, the school athletic games, the morning which marks the end of the year and brings together nearly 300 CM2 students. The perfect opportunity to remind these budding athletes that sport transmits virtues much broader than simple physical development. Team spirit, fair play, moral will and even respect for one's opponents are all fundamental pillars of sport that have been touched by the finger during many events, such as the 50 meters, the jump in height, the long jump or the team relay.

Sensitize the youngest

This very young audience is a far cry from the concerns that older athletes may have about doping. But, as the President of the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee, Mr. Philippe Orengo, reminds us, “it is not useless to do it very young, because it is at this age that bad habits are formed”. In any case, the too rich news that links sport and doping in recent months, reaches the ears of the youngest, who have shown themselves receptive to the speech of Dr Michel (in the center, behind Ms Andrea Alessio, Permanent Secretary,) and Dr Mañas (back)… even if it was the Frisbees offered by the Committee that they seemed to prefer!
