On IVe Summer Youth Olympic Games will take place in Dakar from October 31 to November 13, 2026, and as with all Olympic competitions, strict anti-doping rules, which have been published by the IOC, apply. Here are the key things to remember.
Who is concerned ?
All athletes participating in the Dakar 2026 YOG are subject to these rules, as well as their supervisors (coaches, doctors, physical trainers, etc.). As soon as you are selected by the National Olympic Committee, you are under the authority of these rules.
Prohibited Violations: 11 Rules to Know
The main violations:
- Presence of a prohibited substance in your samples
- Use or attempted use of prohibited substances or methods
- Refusal to submit to a doping control
- Failure to comply with localization obligations (if you are in a targeted control group)
- Falsification of the control process
- Possession of prohibited substances or methods
- Info of prohibited substances
- Administration to other athletes
- Complicité in a violation
- Association prohibited with people hanging
- Intimidation or reprisals against witnesses
The Prohibited List
La WADA Prohibited List applies automatically. It includes:
- Prohibited substances permanently ou only in competition
- prohibited methods (like blood doping)
- substances of abuse (recreational drugs)

Who can control you?
THEITA (International Testing Agency) acts on behalf of the IOC and can control you:
- In competition et out of competition
- At any time et at any place
- Throughout the YOG period (from 13 November 2026 to the Closing Ceremony)
Your obligations:
- Introduce yourself immediately if you are selected
- Provide a urine and/or blood sample
- Follow the entire sampling procedure
Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs)
If you need a medicine containing a prohibited substance for medical reasons:
- Request a AUT at least 30 days before the start of the YOG
- The AUT Committee will assess your application promptly
- TUEs already granted can be automatically recognized
Consequences of violation
Possible sanctions:
- Cancellation of your results at the YOG
- Suspension participation in competitions
- Withdrawal of medals, diplomas and prizes
- Publication of the sanction
