THE DAY OF SOLIDARITY AND RESPECT OCTOBER 2019

Always very committed to the promotion and defense of the values of solidarity and respect, the physical education and sports team of the Charles III College of Monaco, coordinated by Mr. Dominique Verger, organized, on October 15, 2019, a new Day of Solidarity and Respect. The Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee fully welcomes this initiative and gives it its support as evidenced by its presence.

Unmissable values

Founded in Nice in May 1994, the Solidarsport association aims to be a link for all those who recognize themselves in its Charter of Respect and to share its values with younger generations.

In the field, this has resulted in France by the organization of “Days of Respect” in schools wishing to join this process articulated around the seven rules which set out the aspects of Respect: respect for others; Self respect ; The respect of the rules ; respect the environment ; respect for the word given; respect of a commitment; respect for our duties as citizens; respect for life.

In the Principality of Monaco, it has been several years since the Physics and Sports Education (EPS) team of Charles III college has been associated with Solidarsport events by organizing a day of solidarity and respect for all its 4th year classes. around the rugby activity.

The choice of this sport is not insignificant, especially because as Pierre Albaladejo, former French international, underlined in a very beautiful formula, it is "A game that forbids the I ". It is certainly tough, but respect is an absolute golden rule in all its components and its most brilliant symbol is that of the guard of honor which celebrates the two teams at the final whistle.

A long-term commitment

If for the 2019 edition, the bad weather of October 15 forced the 276 students in classes of 4rd of the College to meet in the establishment's gymnasiums and not on a stadium, this did not affect their enthusiasm or that of the teachers, especially since it benefited from the presence of Marjorie Mayans, member of the French women's team at the 2014 World Cup and of the French team which achieved the same year the Grand Slam in the Six Nations Tournament and which after having also played in the 2013 Rugby World Cup 7 was selected in the France team for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee was present for the second consecutive year and, among the many workshops given by the teachers of PE and a dietitian-nutritionist who punctuated the day, two of its representatives (Dr. Muriel Tonelli and Mr. Jérémy Bottin) animated a specific workshop including the use of the Junior Quiz of the World Anti-Doping Agency. As in the previous year, this showed that the students had acquired a solid knowledge of doping, with each group having answered at least four of the five questions asked.

The awards ceremony, in the presence of third row David Bolgashvili, now Stade Niçois coach in Federal 1 after a well-rounded international career in the ranks of the Georgia team, took place in this spirit of conviviality which is also the one of the hallmarks of rugby. Naturally, the Committee took its part in distributing rewards that were both fun and educational to the members of the winning teams.
