On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee intervened with the U18 and U21 basketball players of AS Monaco Basket as part of an educational session on the fight against doping.
This meeting helped to consolidate the knowledge of players already aware of the rules and to provide new members with essential guidelines to progress while respecting the rules.
The discussions focused in particular on:
- the role and missions of the Committee,
- the TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption),
- the various violations of anti-doping rules and the associated sanctions,
- the risks associated with the consumption of dietary supplements,
- accidental doping, particularly in connection with certain medications,
- cannabis,
- the process of an anti-doping control, in order to understand its different stages,
- the objective liability of athletes,
- the issues related to health and sporting integrity.
Throughout the session, the players raised numerous questions, particularly regarding the training of doctors in anti-doping rules, the consequences of excessive hydration during a urine test, and the reasons why some sports are more heavily tested than others. They also inquired about the duration of registration in the target group during a career and the possibility of detecting a locally administered substance, such as one applied to the eyes.
Participants also discovered the CMA MED application, a practical tool for quickly checking whether a medication is authorized or not.
The CMA would also like to thank the basketball players for their availability and the interest they showed throughout this session.
