The École des Révoires and the CMA play fair

Raising students' awareness of the risks of doping practices actively participates in the information and prevention mission of the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee. Working in close collaboration with the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, the CMA has increased its interventions in schools in the Principality in recent years. The most recent took place, in an atmosphere as studious as it is exciting, at the École des Révoires.

A fundamental mission

The purpose of physical and sports education is to train, through the school practice of physical, sports and artistic activities, a cultivated, lucid, autonomous, physically and socially educated citizen.

The objective of teaching pupils to know how to manage their physical and social life contributes to achieving this goal.

Within this general framework, making students aware of the risks of doping practices actively participates in this mission.

Working in close collaboration with the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee has been able in recent years to develop a variety of educational information programs and reach a growing number of students from school levels of more and more diverse.

If the CMA was already reaching students in seventh grade through the School Athletic Games, a new initiative by the Director of the École des Révoires, Ms. Isabelle Biancheri, enabled it to adapt a module to children at this school level. educational awareness raising on the issue of doping in sport.

A welcome full of promise

This module in two parts, one devoted to the presentation of a short film on doping, the other to a guided exchange with the students and their respective teacher, was thus presented to the three classes of Ms. Sandrine Charretier (7rd A), Catherine Duterque (7rd B) and Joëlle Condesse (7rd C) without forgetting, of course, the teachers of physical education, Ms. Christine Blancon and Mr. Gregory Moll.

Speakers from the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee (Dr. Muriel Tonelli, Mr. Jeremy Bottin, Olympian and former high-level athlete, Mr. Philippe Orengo, President of the Committee and Ms. Andrea Alessio, Permanent Secretary of the Committee, accompanied by Mr. Thomas Lapras ) were not only able to measure the extent of the knowledge on doping already acquired by this public but also the interest it shows in the subject.

Attentive, curious, responsive, relevant, the students and their teachers lent themselves with unexpected enthusiasm to the game of questions and answers ... to such an extent that the initially planned duration of half an hour for each session was largely overwhelmed ... in an assent and a general good humor.

The lesson to be learned is that the children attending school in these three classes, very concerned by the intrinsic values of sport, have shown their desire, when this is not already the case, to integrate them into their everyday life. In short, sportsmanship clearly has a bright future ahead of it in the Principality.

The Committee would like to thank all the staff of the École des Révoires, already strongly involved in sport, as demonstrated in particular by the presence of the students at the Yacht Club de Monaco to experience the Monaco Globe Series as closely as possible. sailing qualifying for the Vendée Globe, contributed to the success of these awareness sessions that he hopes to be able to repeat next year.
