Protection and liability
The fight against doping is first and foremost part of a process to protect athletes and sport in general, but also social responsibility. The career of a top athlete is generally short and often accompanied by significant sacrifices.
The search for surpassing oneself, although being characterized by a certain nobility, requires a personal investment which can go to the limits of the organism. Injuries, overtraining, underperformance, surrounding pressures make the athlete an individual both incredibly strong and fragile, physically and psychologically.
Respect for sport, respect for bodies
Fighting against doping means, beyond the repressive aspect, opening up the range of possibilities for these athletes by helping them to make the correct decision at the right time, while respecting their own bodies.
Information and education in sport are therefore essential in any anti-doping program intended to be effective and seem to be the prerequisites for controlling the phenomenon of doping.
Control functions
Doping control, for its part, has a threefold function.
It is, first and foremost, a way to identify people who do not respect the rules of the game and thus to punish them. Moreover, the dissuasive nature of doping controls no longer needs to be demonstrated, and therefore gives them an undoubtedly preventive value. Finally, as a political and social instrument, a well-conducted anti-doping program, respecting the practices recommended by international standards, becomes a pledge of legitimacy, integrity and exemplarity.
It is therefore important to allow our champions, today and tomorrow, to compete under conditions of fairness, respecting their own sacrifices, and knowing, in full knowledge of the facts, to say no to doping.
